Hypocalcemia was diagnosed in a Tunisian tortoise, Furculachelys nabeulensis, based on biochemical analysis. Further diagnostic procedures were performed, and radiography confirmed six well-calcified eggs present. Blood 25-hydroxycholecalciferol was within acceptable limits. Medical and surgical treatment failed. Histopathology demonstrated dystrophic calcification in the cardiac muscle, aorta, and renal tissue. The parathyroid glands were also enlarged in histopathology.ABSTRACT
