Blood sample contamination by lymph is known to occur in turtles. A small study was undertaken to compare hematocrit and hemoglobin values from two different sites in diamondback terrapins, Malaclemys terrapin. The results showed that samples from the dorsal coccygeal vein usually yielded significantly lower hematocrit and hemoglobin values than samples from the femoral vein which was presumed to be due to lymph dilution.ABSTRACT
